Bob’s Burgers Movie Still on Schedule for Next Year

Bob’s Burgers has been a relatively quiet success for Fox over the last eight years. So much so that the network renewed the animated series for a tenth season earlier this year. But the team has been hard at work on a Bob’s Burgers movie too over the last few years. A movie whose fate was unknown following Disney’s acquisition of Fox.

Yesterday, Disney announced its theatrical schedule for their various properties which stretches out through the end of 2027. This shed light on the future of Star Wars, Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and much more. And to our delight, the Bob’s Burgers movie was still right on track for a release next year.

In 2017, Fox positioned the Bob’s Burgers movie for a release date of July 17th, 2020. That apparently works well for Disney, as the studio opted to keep the series’ theatrical effort right where it was next summer.

We’ve yet to get any details on the project from the series’ creator, Loren Bouchard. Bouchard knows that there’s a lot riding on his big screen adaptation though. He noted the difficulty in creating something special for longtime fans, yet accessible enough for new audiences.

Bouchard joked that the film “has to be the best movie ever made” and that he and his team plan to “fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever-so-slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s.”
