According to developer The Coalition’s Director of Community Adam Fletcher, the release date announcement is “set to ignite a chain of upcoming revelations,” meaning we’ll hear more news soon on the Xbox One exclusive.
Fletcher’s update also notes that the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta will be kicking off this month, with owners of the Ultimate Edition being able to jump in on April 18, and Xbox Live Gold members on April 25.
The Gears of War 4 story takes place 25 years after the game’s last outing, following our new protagonist, JD Fenix, the son of Marcus Fenix. JD and his new teammates, Kait and Del, will be the focus of the new story, which will unfold over the course of just 24 hours. It sounds like 24, the Gears of War edition!
On top of the Gears of War 4 release date and beta news, we also got our first look at the cover art for the upcoming game, thanks to Entertainment Weekly.
You can pre-order Gears of War 4 now on Xbox One, and for more on GoW 4, stay tuned to Nerd Much. We’re currently being told that it’s an Xbox One exclusive, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it were to make its way to PC shortly after release.
