The PS4 is about to get yet another free-to-play MMO.
Announced this morning, Skyforge, an action-oriented MMORPG set in a sci-fi fantasy world, will make its way to the PS4 in March 2017.
The game, which is developed by Allods and Obsidian, and published by My.com, is a free-to-play game that has been in open beta on PC since 2015. The game is generally held in high regards by its player base, with many praising its action-based combat. What’s more, it takes a unique approach in the MMO space where you basically develop your character into a certain class as you play (instead of picking a specific class when you create your character).
More From Nerd Much?:
Releasing Skyforge on PS4 is definitely a great idea to increase its player base, especially with the PlayStation 4 having such a big market share in this console generation. Not to mention the fact that there are so many other free to play MMOs on PS4, including DCUO, Star Trek Online, Neverwinter, and more.
We’ll be interested to see the reception for this one, as its cash shop is controversial in the MMO space. However, we’re not quite sure how it’s going to be implemented on console and whether or not it’s still going to feel like pay to win. We’ll have to wait until March to find out.
