In an interview with Game Legends at the Italian event Let’s Play 2017, director of Final Fantasy XV Hajime Tabata announced that there will be a future DLC that focuses on the character of Ardyn Izunia. Learning more about Izunia definitely opens up the world of FFXV even more.
Tabata also mentions that the gameplay in each DLC will reflect the character it’s about, like last week’s Gladiolus had new elements that suited his character. According to Tabata, this kind of tailored gameplay will be included in all future character-based DLCs for Final Fantasy XV.
Hopefully that means we’ll be seeing more main and side characters fully developed, in addition to the ones already coming out.
The latter currently includes Prompto and Ignis so far, which will be released later this year, and Gladiolus which is available now. With Gladiolus, the player learns what happened when he took off with a few friends to gain the strength he needed for the rest of the game.
There’s certainly nothing like a world as large and complex as FFXV being more and more developed through the eyes of various characters and perspectives. The perspectives are often key here, as not all of them see the main conflict in the same light.
