The long awaited and anticipated Thor: Ragnarok finally has a trailer! And it looks like Norse mythology has nothing to do with the plot! A good thing, really, because that would make a great Game of Thrones episode, not so much a Marvel movie.
It also seems to be placed far into the future where Guardians of the Galaxy reside, which I thought was going to be a much longer journey story-wise. Will Thor meet up with Starlord and his gang? Will Loki be trying to get the infinity stones from The Collector or Thanos, if that is even his goal? The trailer certainly raises more questions than it does answers, though I’m sure the comics can give a few theories.
Nonetheless, Thor: Ragnarok will coming out November 3rd and is directed by Taika Waititi (known for Hunt for the Wilderpeople). If you haven’t already memorized the cast, this film will star old favorites Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
New to the movie, however, is the ever famous Cate Blanchett, who will be playing the goddess of death, Hela. You can see her interesting headwear in the trailer, to which I instantly wondered how it stayed on without falling to pieces.
The trailer had me concerned that this movie would require a few tissue boxes, but according the director, Ragnarok will be “be one of the most adventurous and most ‘out there’ of all the Marvel movies.” I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not, but Waititi is known for his wise-cracking humor, so there is hope.
