Forza Horizon 3 Gets Hot Wheels Expansion

Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios have announced today that there will be a Hot Wheels expansion for Forza Horizon 3 coming May 9th of this year. I don’t think there could have been a more clever idea for a DLC, it taps into all the nostalgia most kids have with Hot Wheels and it looks amazing. It comes free with the expansion pass, but if you don’t have that it’s $19.99. Okay, but can we build our own tracks? That’s my question.

In this expansion, players will find a new location, the beautiful red sands of Australia contrast with the bright orange tracks that we all remember so fondly. There will, of course, be all of the classic Hot Wheels cars too, like Twin Mill, Rip Rod, Boneshaker, Ford Mustang, Jeep Trailcat, Zenvo ST1, Toyota Hilux Arctic Trucks AT38, Pagani Zonda R, and Chrysler VH Valiant Charger R/T E49.

The track will contain a lot of the iconic loop-de-loops, twists, and corkscrews, along with new features that will truly test your skills, like boost pads, high-bank turns, half-pipes, jumps, and mechanical dinosaurs. Though they don’t mention if you can create our own entire track, you can use the “Stunt Swap feature to modify stunt track sections.” Which makes me hope customizable Hot Wheels tracks will be in the future.

If you want to learn more, the day before its release will debut a livestream demo of the expansion. It will start May 8th at 1pm PDT and feature some behind-the-scenes and special guests for fans of the game. Something like breaking out the champagne for the developers, I’m sure, meaning they want to celebrate with you too.
