According to a user on the GTA forums, a screenshot from Red Dead Redemption 2 has been leaked. It features a quiet old Western town, a theme generally central to the game. A cowboy stand in the forefront, leaning against an awnings support beam. He seems at rest, hat down to shade his eyes from the sun and arms crossed. All that is truly missing here, is a long sprig of wheat or cigar in his mouth. In the background is his horse, and what appears to be two police officers in uniform, though it’s hard to tell. I’m not sure what police look like in the Red Dead Redemption 2 world. The clearest shop sign reads “D&M Exchange,” which offers absolutely no helpful hints.
Others at NeoGAF have made a causal correlation with the trailer that implies the legitimacy of the photo. They compare it with what looks like the same scene, but from the other side of the street.
However I must point out that these are clearly completely different towns and characters, including the man leaning against the beam. They are wearing entirely different clothes and the surround debri isn’t even there in the newer photo. That said, they could be comparing the similar poses, the crossed legs. If I may, such a comparison is wholly unfair. Most animators in the world can accomplish this pose, from amateur to expert.
Unfortunately, this photo offers up absolutely nothing in the way of clues to Red Dead Redemption 2. There is nothing here that could not be from the original game and nothing that legitimizes it. All of the usual Old West tropes are present, it does look like a shot from a game, but there is no saying it’s Red Dead Redemption 2.
