Publisher Square Enix and developers Tokyo RPG Factory have announced a release date for Lost Sphear, January 23, 2018 on the PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. You can also pre-order the game now for the PS4 and PC, but not for the Nintendo Switch.
If you pre-order for the PS4, you will receive a dynamic theme for your UI called “Memoirs of the Moon” and two music tracks from the game. If you pre-order from Steam, it will be more or less the same items, a wallpaper and the two tracks.
Lost Sphear comes from the same developers responsible for I Am Setsuna. With Lost Sphear, Tokyo RPG Factory decided to build upon what fans loved about I Am Setsuna, “blending nostalgia… with the latest technology” to bring in new players that might know the older game. The gameplay is enhanced with what the developers are calling ATB (Active Time Battle) so that players can have more freedom of movement in combat.
In addition, Lost Sphear features seamless environments and tons of locations to explore. The players starts out as a young boy by the name of Kanata from a remote town. Much like at least two Zelda games, the boy wakes up from a horrible nightmare to find that devastation has already reached his home. The town is slowly disappearing, along with the rest of the world. It’s up to the player to gather comrades and friends in arms to carefully rebuild what is lost in the world. Your party does so through the power of Memory, which is the trick of turning thoughts into matter and restoring the world.
If you’re interested, Lost Sphear is going for $49.99 USD on pre-order. Not a bad price for what could be a very good game.
