The Evil Within 2 Trailer: The Photographer
It all started with the photograph that caused him to lose an eye.
This new trailer for The Evil Within 2 is sure to send shivers down your spine, either of delicious delight or haunting horror.
Bethesda first gave us a glimpse of antagonist Stefano Valentini through a series of his art pieces. It’s a study in blood splatter, and it seems Valentini is certainly keen on that kind of “beauty in destruction” as he calls it.
It all started with the photograph that caused him to lose an eye. According to this trailer, Valentini caught the moment of death, when grenade went off near a solider and he died almost instantly. From then on, Valentini discovered how beautiful destruction could be. Death, of course, being the ultimate destruction.
Then we see how the photos Bethesda released before will look in the game, hung in a red room for developing. Before they appear to turn black with decay. Again, a theme of destruction.
After this we finally see Valentini himself, sitting in chair with his legs crossed and playing idly with a sharp looking dagger. Sharp, and ornate, it is certainly not a blade typical to any particular region of the world, but its curves certainly make it glint coldly in what little light there is in the trailer.
The patch covering Valentini’s eye is in ironic contract to the intricateness of the blade. It’s hard to tell for sure, but it looks as though there might no be a patch at all, only scars and deep chasm where his eye once was.
Of course, the beauty of death is not all Valentini seeks. There is one person in particular that he thinks will truly incapsulate the “moment of death.” It is that of the little girl the protagonist Sebastian is trying so very hard to save. Hopefully he will succeed before Valentini decides to use her blood as paint.
The Evil Within 2 releases October 13, 2017 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
