Jurassic World Evolution Game Announced

Something all "long-time fans of the entire Jurassic series" will be thrilled to play.

According to Microsoft, Jurassic World Evolution will be on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC come summer 2018. It is a game centered around building your own jurassic park, developed by experts in the field, Frontier Developments. This is the same studio that created the RollerCoaster Tycoon series and the space MMO, Elite Dangerous.

You won’t just be building hospitals to compliment each exhibit either, you will be able to breed the dinosaurs you want. The trailer shows what will apparently happen when your carefully petri-dish born dinosaurs escape and wreak havoc. Beginning with a small dinosaur just hatching from its egg. Through the great transition, we see the dinosaur now grown up as a tyrannosaurus rex. Or at least, a dinosaur within that family of species. The T-Rex is already after some trouble, making a run for it and head-butting one of the fences keeping him confined.

The fence doesn’t hold up very well, the concrete crumbling the wearing tearing easily in its powerful jaws. The maintenance crew working on the fence don’t stand a chance, but the player builds a hospital nearby anyway. Help is sent out, but as we see by the end of the trailer, they don’t fair any better than the maintenance crew. The last shot of the trailer is of course, a callback to the very first Jurassic Park film. One of the most famous scenes in cinematic history, where the T-Rex stands among its own wreckage and roars to the heavens, as a banner proclaiming “when dinosaurs ruled the earth.”

Chief creative officer of Frontier Developments Jonny Watts describes the game as something all “long-time fans of the entire Jurassic series” will be thrilled to play. Being put in charge of your own dino park is sure to be an exciting experience, depending on just how often your own dinosaurs destroy various hard-earned buildings and walls.

Watts cites the studio’s 15 years of time put into the simulation genre, giving future players the best features of management and creature development. The Jurassic franchise is something that truly inspires Frontier to accomplish great things for their players.

Jurassic World Evolution will likely launch alongside the film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which hits theaters on June 22, 2018. Though the official release date for the game remains as summer of 2018.
