Secret of Mana Remastered

The game will of course "retain its long-held charm" among all the updates.

The Secret of Mana has slipped into high-definition 3D as Square Enix announces that the classic game will be coming to the PS4, PS Vita, and PC. Not only are the graphics completely revamped, but there is voice-over included now, upgraded gameplay, and “newly arranged musical score.”

The game will of course “retain its long-held charm” among all the updates. Originally released on the SNES in 1993, Secret of Mana has advanced to the Wii, Wii U, with a mobile version coming Android and iOS in 2010 and 2014. The game was most recently ported to the Nintendo Switch via the Virtual Console.

After hitting all of the more recent Nintendo systems, it good to see Secret of Mana branching out to other consoles. It is always quite a jump to see a popular game made for Nintendo systems to cross the line to the PlayStation or the Xbox.

If you haven’t heard of Secret of Mana before, not to worry. It is an open-world RPG that follows a group of three friends, Randi, Primm, and Popoi. These friends are on a mission to save the world and reclaim the power of Mana from an evil empire. Randi turns out to be the only one who can weild the power of Mana and is tasked with reviving the lands along with his friends. It’s not an easy journey though, there are plenty of obstacles and quests in the way before you can run ahead and save the world.

If all of that sounds like a great game to you, you can preorder Secret of Mana at the PS Store and on Steam. If you preorder a PlayStation version, you’ll receive special character costumes. These include: Moogle Suit for Randi, Primm and Popoi, Tiger Two-Piece for Primm, and Tiger Suit for Randi and Popoi. On top of those, you’ll get three PlayStation Network avatars. If you order the Day 1 edition from Steam, you’ll get all the aforementioned costumes along with a downloadable wallpaper.

Secret of Mana is scheduled for global digital release February 15, 2017.
