Lost Sphear Gameplay Trailer

This gameplay trailer certainly shows how much the game is a callback to more classic JRPGs.

From the makers of I Am Setsuna comes another innovating JRPG, Lost Sphear. This gameplay trailer certainly shows how much the game is a callback to more classic JRPGs during the 16-bit era. The turn-based are “enhanced” and boast a unique revamp of the older styles.

We see a few new enemies and friends, all beautifully designed and fit in the world of Lost Sphear seamlessly. The trailer also features something called the Vulcosuit, mechanized armor that everyone in the party can wear at once. Though it isn’t made clear exactly how this works, if it is timed within battle or if you wear it all the time to avoid getting knocked out by enemies.

Lost Sphear will also be making an appearance at PAX West from September 1-4. There will be a demo available for anyone who attends the event. Square Enix even boasts that you can take photos with the main characters, Kanata and Lumina at their booth. If you’ve already pre-ordered the game, you can come by and get a free t-shirt, exclusive to the event.

If the travel costs are little out of your budget, you can watch Square Enix’s livestream of the event on Twitch. This will be posted September 3 at 2pm PT. If you’re interested in Lost Sphear and anything else from the publisher, be sure to check it out. I believe Square Enix has quite a bit related to Final Fantasy going on, especially the mobile games for the franchise like Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition. If you’re really lucky, you might even see something new for Life is Strange: Before the Storm.

Lost Sphear will release digitally on the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on January 23, 2018. The game is also available for pre-order as a physical package exclusively from the Square Enix Online Store for the PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
