Surprisingly, Nintendo came out with some good pickings for indie games. Though if you own a PC, you most likely already had the pleasure of experiencing most of these games. Some of these games are definitely worth putting on a wishlist, as some work to take advantage of the Switches easy co-op mode and others have fascinating stories to tell.Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase 2017 Trailer Announcements

One of the latter, and my favorite from this list, is Mulaka. This game is based on the native peoples and culture of the Tarahumara in Northern Mexico. Mulaka takes the player through the history and myths of the Tarahumara, compiled by renowned anthropologists and Tarahumara leaders.

I admit I’m a sucker for educational games, so I am very interested in seeing Mulaka launch sometime this year. Another game on this list that might not be as interesting as Mulaka, but certainly makes up for it with high levels of cute.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants is so cute, it reaches critical points. The trailer shows us a tiny blue elephant go about the usual tasks found in a Zelda game like Wind Waker. The two gameplay styles are very similar, especially with the abilities shown: like water, fire, and carrying bombs.

Other games that take better advantage of the Switch’s multiplayer mode, like Nine Parchments (an up to four player fantasy game centered around defeating enemy after enemy to level up with better gear and weapons), Little Fingers (procedural levels and puzzles), Morhpies Law (a multiplayer shooter game with a very strange premise), Wulverblade (another fantasy hack n’ slash), and SteamWorld Dig 2 (needs no explanation).

Most of these games will be released on the Nintendo Switch first but are not exclusive to the console. Some are already out on Steam, others will actually be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. Those that are not out yet will be coming within 2017 and 2018.
