Okami HD Paints Our Screens Once Again This December
Another chance to experience a true work of art.
Christmas appears to be coming early for gamers across the globe. Capcom has announced that they will be releasing Okami HD for current consoles this December. However, there is no mention of a Nintendo Switch version of the title.
This iteration of Okami HD appears to be the same as the one released on PlayStation 3 back in 2012. However, it has seen a graphical upheaval, as “its renowned Sumi-e ink art style is now even more breath-taking as the graphics have been updated to take advantage of modern high resolutions.” Capcom also stated that the game will feature 4K visuals to take advantage of the Xbox One X, PlayStation 4 Pro and supported PC builds.
If you’ve yet to experience the game for yourself, here is the title’s official plot description:
“In Okami HD players take on the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess who inhabits the form of a legendary white wolf Shiranui on a quest to defeat Orochi, an eight-headed demon and tyrannical monster responsible for turning the world into a ruined wasteland. Players must use Amaterasu’s magical abilities and arsenal of items, attacks and Celestial Brush techniques to restore the land of Nippon to its previous glory full of life and color. Along the way, Amaterasu will be called upon to help a cast of quirky and intriguing characters and defeat a bevy of brutal enemies to rid the land of Orochi’s curse.”
Upon release in 2006, Okami was a renowned success. It won a plethora of Game of Year awards. Many shouting praise for its The Legend of Zelda inspired gameplay paired with its gorgeously unique cel-shaded art style. It’s an absolute must play if you’ve never given it a whirl over the last decade or so.
Okami HD lands on Xbox One, Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro and PC on December 12th for $19.99.
