Black Panther finally has a trailer for the upcoming film and it features a great deal of action from the only royal member of the Avengers.
The trailer opens with clips of an interesting looking throne, though I’m not sure it is Black Panther’s. Space travel seems to be a thing as well, which might not be entirely surprising due to Hydra’s rather steep technology curve.
Then we are greeted with a glimpse of the Black Panther’s headquarters. These are stuck inside a mountain that looks a lot like the Simien Mountains in Gondar.
However it is possible that the setting is elsewhere; there are plenty of beautiful mountain ranges in Africa that this image looks similar to. Besides, I’m pretty sure the Simien Mountains are in a very strictly protected national park.
It is then that we are reminded that Martin Freeman is in this movie, reprising his role as CIA agent Everett K. Ross from Captain America: Civil War. If you don’t quite recall, he as a part of the team that held onto Helmut Zemo, which didn’t work out very well for anyone. He is also part of the desire to control and regulate the Avengers and their actions. Perhaps we will see more of the latter as he works with, or against, Black Panther.
We also get to see what the Black Panther’s kingdom looks like, the nation of Wakanda. This is a large country masked from the rest of the world. It is a great deal more advanced than most cities we’ve seen in the Avengers universe.
Most important of all, the trailer features a look at the villain of the film, Klaw as played by Andy Serkis (known for his role in The Lord of the Rings as Gollum).
Black Panther released in theatres February 16, 2018.
