Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Launch Trailer Features Hitler Cameo
Apparently he's actually in the game this go around.
With just ten days before launch, marketing is in full gear for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Bethesda just rolled The Evil Within 2 out the door on Friday, and now it’s on to the next one.
Our ten day countdown begins with the debut of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus’ launch trailer. The game is, of course, the sequel to the acclaimed Wolfenstein: The New Order. The setting is 1960s America, and we’ve been overtaken by the Nazi regime following their victory of the second World War.
You’re once again pit in the role of William “B.J.” Blazkowicz as he joins the resistance in an attempt to end the evil regime. You’re main foil within the game is Frau Engel. You can see her shrieking to the crowd at 0:25 of today’s trailer. She hunts Blazkowicz throughout the game, labeling as “Terror-Billy” and deems him a terrorist to this new America.
One of the moments within the trailer that many seem excited for is the inclusion of Adolf Hitler himself within the game. At the far end of the trailer (1:21) you see Hitler walking out onto what could be a television or film set based upon its lighting. However, something isn’t quite right.
Hitler is in a bath robe it appears, and he’s stumbling. He’s also in the midst of an ugly coughing spell. It’s my guess that while Hitler will appear in the game, it won’t be for long. Perhaps this shot was just included to add further hype to the game? Maybe Hitler has been poisoned and as he walks onto the live set, he drops dead due to an effort from the resistance? Thus broadcasting a signal nationally that the Nazi’s have been severely wounded and it’s time for open rebellion? I’m speculating off of 5 seconds of footage, but hey, anything is possible.
We’ll find out the fate of Hitler on our own soon enough. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus hits PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 27th. It’ll come to Nintendo Switch as well in 2018.
