Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Direct News, Cross Promotion with Breath of the Wild
The cross promotion is to get fans familiar with the main character, Rex
Nintendo really wants you to be excited about Xenoblade Chronicles 2. And really, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be. So Nintendo spent about fifteen minutes this morning breaking the game down via a Nintendo Direct to prove it to us.
The Direct does a great job of introducing players to the world of Alrest and the characters within it. It also took plenty of time to show off the game’s core RPG and combat mechanics. There was also a trailer that focused exclusively on the story’s characters. It’s here that Nintendo confirmed the ability to use Japanese dialogue with English subtitles, which is a nice touch!
Via press release, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Doug Bowser stated that “With Xenoblade Chronicles 2, we are giving fans yet another engaging adventure that can only be found on Nintendo Switch. This sequel is perfect for playing at home or while traveling during the busy holiday season.” And judging by the scope of the game seen within the Direct, this may be one hell of an adventure.
More From Nerd Much?:
Towards the end of the Direct, Nintendo announced a brilliant move to cross promote Xenoblade Chronicles 2 within The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. With a free title update coming to Zelda on November 9th, a new side quest will open up that will earn Link some new threads. The outfit is the same that Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s main character Rex wears while on his quest.
Nintendo also unveiled their post-launch plans for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. As of today, the game’s $29.99 Expansion Pass is available for purchase. With it, you’ll get the following:
- Support Items for Your Journey – Starting December 2017
- New Quests for the Main Game – Starting January 2018
- New Rare Blade – Spring 2018
- New Challenge Battle Mode – Summer 2018
- A Brand-New Story and Adventure! – Autumn 2018
Nintendo essentially has an entire year dedicated to the continued experience that encompasses Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Hopefully it’s all as good as they are hyping it up to be. The game itself launches worldwide on December 1st.
