Breath of the Wild Champions’ Ballad DLC Release Date December
It's not much to go on, but it is very much focused on Zelda.
In a recent interview with Kotaku, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime revealed the a more concise release date for Breath of the Wild‘s Champions’ Ballad DLC. Mainly that we shouldn’t “lock and load on November 10th” just because the champion Amiibo figures are released that day. In fact, it turns out that the Champions’ Ballad will be releasing in December of this year.
The Champions’ Ballad was initially announced as a part of the game’s season pass, and later came up for individual purchase. According to a series of tweets from Nintendo of Europe back in July, you will still be playing as Link in the DLC but you’ll get to “learn more about Zelda along the way.”
The video attached to the tweet should snowy mountains and Zelda riding on horseback with two other Hylian guards. The next clip is of Zelda in Gerudo Valley, speaking with the Queen there in her throne room.
It’s not much to go on, but it is very much focused on Zelda. Perhaps the DLC is placed in the past we’ll learn more about Zelda’s life as a princess, before Link was put under. Her journey with each champion is certainly gruelling and worth the attention of her knight in shining armor.
The rest of Fils-Aime’s interview with Kotaku doesn’t reveal much in the way of new information. Apparently the Switch’s support of GameCube controllers “was as much a surprise to [Nintendo] as it was to consumers.” Though a Super Smash Bros. game might be in development as a result, there is definitely “nothing to announce on this.”
On the subject of the Switch’s video-on-demand service, it seems that its development depends far more on external parties. It is apps from networks like Netflix that need to be compatible and put on the Switch. At least Nintendo isn’t trying to make their own streaming network on their gaming console.
