Battlefield 1 Turning Tides Update Hits the Beaches in December

Four maps. Two vehicles. One war.

EA Dice may have released Battlefield 1 over a year ago, but they clearly aren’t done with it yet. The developer is touting their upcoming DLC packs which are together entitled Turning Tides. The first wave of new content will begin hitting consoles next month.

On December 11th, Premium Pass owners will get the first crack at a pair of new maps within the shooter. Cape Helles is a locale in which you’ll “Storm the beaches of the Gallipoli peninsula with the allied powers or defend the Ottoman Empire’s fortifications.” The other is Achi Baba, in where you’ll “Throw yourself into the joint allied assault on the Gallipoli peninsula of 1915 in an intense, fast, and infantry-focused setting.”

Six new weapons will enter the war as well: the M1917 Trench Carbine, Maschinenpistole M1912/P.16, Farquhar-Hill, M1917 MG, Carcano M91 Carbine, and Type 38 Arisaka. Fresh melee weapons are being introduced too in the form of the Naval Cutlass and Grappling Hook.

The second part of the Turning Tides update will deploy in January. Two new maps will be featured it that portion as well. Heligoland Blight features “an epic naval clash as the British Empire Royal Marines and German Navy pit dreadnoughts, destroyers, and aircraft against each other while infantry troops fight by the iconic red cliffs of Rocky Cove. And Zeebrugge has players “Take part of the daring British raid on the Belgian port of Bruges-Zeebrugge with rough waves and a vast German mole as backdrop in close-quarter infantry environments.”

The December update will also feature a new vehicle in the form of the L-Class Destroyer. The ship sports cannons, torpedoes, AA guns and mines. There will also be a new operation entitled Gallipoli, The Infiltrator Elite Class, and new specializations, service assignments and unlocks.

The January content will also have a new vehicle, the C-Class Airship. This plane can hold a pilot and three gunners to rain terror from above. We’ll also earn the right to play as British Royal Marines in the early 2018 update.
