The Adventure Pals Release Date Spring 2018
There are a great deal of needy townsfolk, like the Insecure Whale.
Developers Massive Monster would like to announce that their upcoming game The Adventure Pals will be arriving in the Spring of 2018 on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The Adventure Pals is an ideal couch co-op game regardless of the system, where the second player drops-in/drops-out. You can fly with your handy “yellow stead” (a giraffe with a very long tongue) throughout various platforming levels with plenty of enemies and puzzles to keep both players occupied.
There are RPG elements as well, though they seem to be restricted to a great deal of needy townsfolk, like the Insecure Whale, Hungry Mailman, Toast, and Fancy Burrito. All cleverly animated to reflect their eccentric names.
Keep in mind that despite the bold colors and bubbly theme, The Adventure Pals is not a game for very young children. There is a bit of violence, especially during boss fights and when your bunny pal dies. It is not overt violence, but it is there.
The Adventure Pals also includes plenty of collectables for each quest and level completed like costumes, stickers (for your scrapbook of course), and new characters (including pirates and dinosaurs). There are 105 levels in total, so it will take quite some time for you and your friend to go through. Not all in one sitting anyway, even on the holidays.
If you happen to be in Anaheim, California from December 9-10 for the PlayStation Experience event, you can play The Adventure Pals at the developer’s booth there. It’s a full-on demo open the public, so be sure to check them out if you like platformers and co-op adventures.
A drop-in/drop-out co-op game like The Adventure Pals is still best suited to the Nintendo Switch, since you don’t need to purchase an extra controller. However, some might find platforming with just one Joy-Con difficult to coordinate and having a pro-controller might come in handy. Or the Gamecube controller, if you still have that box lying around.
