PUBG to Demo First Gameplay of New Map at The Game Awards

Just one of many announcements set for the award show next Thursday

With just a week to go until the Geoff Keighley hosted The Game Awards, teases and promotion are in full swing. And Keighley is using one of the biggest games in the world right now to start the moment: PUBG.

The game continues to steal headlines on a weekly basis. Just a few days ago reports emerged that Tencent was localizing the game for the Chinese audience. They also plan to bring the über popular battle royale game to mobile devices in the territory.

Come Thursday, Keighley is poised to help unveil the future of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: one of its brand new maps. New maps have been teased for a while now. It’s been stated that at least two are in development. But The Game Awards will show public gameplay of one of the locales for the first time.

One map is said to be based upon a fictional island in the Adriatic Sea. It’s been stated that the map will border on Yugoslavian territories and will feature snowy conditions in portions of its terrain. The second map in development is desert themed. It’s set in the remains of a Peruvian city decimated by war and sandstorms. This second map is the one we’re poised for a look at:

There are a few different fan sites on the net that have pulled the map from PUBG’s assets. While it’s likely not finalized, you can get a general idea of what to expect when it launches. One prominent fan site has the new map entitled Valle Coronado. Another labels it as Miramar.

We’ll surely get the final name of PUBG’s second official map at the award show on Thursday. But for those that aren’t interested in online offerings these days – don’t sweat. Keighley is teasing some single-player game reveals too.
