Attack on Titan is quite the powerful franchise. As of October, the Japanese manga has printed over 68 million copies. The series’ popularity spurred a video game of the same name. Omega Force developed the game with Koei Tecmo publishing it in 2016. Now, two years later, we’re ready for Attack on Titan 2. And the publisher announced it’s not all that far off.
The hack and slash action title is poised to land in the West in March of 2018. The first Attack on Titan game retold the events of the initial volumes of the manga as portrayed through Season 1 of the show. It was paced out through three separate chapters within the game. Attack on Titan 2 is set to continue on from there.
The first game allowed for a deeper look at the series’ characters due to the additional depth that the game’s medium provides. The sequel will likely do the same. However, Attack on Titan 2 also boasts a brand new create a character feature to spice things up.
Creating your own Scout character appears to be a key feature of Attack on Titan 2. Koei Tecmo states that the new character will provide “a fresh perspective on the events of both seasons of the worldwide anime hit.” It sounds as though the publisher is alluding that the Scout will take players through the events that occurred during both Season 1 and Season 2 of the show. Season 1 appears as though it will be retold through a new perspective.
Attack on Titan 2 is set to implement RPG elements on top of the first outings hack and slack DNA. The character roster is expanding too. Koei Tecmo has stated that the following cast are featured within upcoming sequel: Hitch Dreyse, Marlo Freudenberg, Mina Carolina, Nile Dawk, Thomas Wagner, Annie Leonhart, Bertholdt Hoover, Reiner Braun, the Armored Titan, the Colossal Titan, the Female Titan and a yet to be revealed Mystery Titan.
Attack on Titan 2 will available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. It’s hitting western territories on March 20, 2018.
