Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Coming to Mobile 2018

For the first time, put your own character into the world of Harry Potter.

Warner Bros. and Jam City have announced an opportunity to finally transport your likeness into the magical world of Harry Potter. And you can begin doing so next year with the new mobile game in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

The studios haven’t said much about Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery besides the fact that it exists. However, they did indicate that Hogwarts Mystery would be “the first game in which players can create their own character and experience life as a Hogwarts student.” With the innumerable amount of games that have come out under the Harry Potter brand, it’s striking that we’ve never played as a non-canonical character before.

Jam City and Warner Bros. will release Hogwarts Mystery under the their new label of Portkey Games. The subsidiary is said to be “dedicated to creating experiences inspired by the magic and adventures of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.” Niantic’s augmented reality game Harry Potter: Wizard’s Unite will release under the Portkey Games banner as well. Wizards Unite looks to be designed similarly to Niantic’s hugely popular Pokémon Go.

Details are slim at this point for Hogwarts Mystery. The release from Warner Bros. indicates that the game’s plot will focus on your customized wizard and their life within the walls of Hogwarts. You’ll attend wizarding classes, interact with staff and students, and just generally experience life as a student of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The title of the game also seems to indicate the direction of the upcoming mobile game. Hogwarts Mystery seems to allude toward a significant event going down at the school. We would imagine your character will be tasked with unraveling said mystery. And with it being a mobile title, you can bet you’ll be tasked with crowd sources several aspects of the game to advance its narrative.

Players can go to the game’s website and pre-register here for news and alerts. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery heads our way sometime in 2018.
