In what seems like a “why is this just happening” kind of move, Square Enix has announced that Life is Strange is now available for iOS devices.
Life is Strange originally released its first episode back in January 2015. It’s prequel series has been ongoing, with its finale scheduled for later this month. So it’s a wonder why Square Enix and the developers at DontNod took so long to get the highly acclaimed series out to the huge install base that iOS offers.
The “faithful” mobile port is being handled by the folks at Black Wing Foundation. Their version of the game has a few unique features packaged within it. It touts an enhanced user interface that fully integrates iOS touch screens. And you’ll also have access to a slew of iMessage Stickers if that’s your jam.
You’ll have the ability in-game to post directly to your social media accounts if you want to update friends. And there’s an all-new Photo mode too which includes plenty of filters to get you just the look you’re going for.
Episodes 1, 2 and 3 will be hitting the iOS App Store as of Thursday, December 14th. However, you can preorder it now if you’d like. You can download the app which contains Episode 1 for $2.99. Episodes 2 and 3 are then available via in-app purchase. Episodes 4 and 5 will be coming to iOS in early 2018.
The developers state that devices including, and newer than iPhone 6, iPad 5, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 are supported. For anyone that’s been in the dark regarding the series, here is the official description:
“Follow the story of Max Caulfield, a photography senior who discovers she can rewind time while saving her best friend Chloe Price. The pair soon find themselves investigating the mysterious disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber, uncovering a dark side to life in Arcadia Bay. Meanwhile, Max must quickly learn that changing the past can sometimes lead to a devastating future.”
