It seems that after the success of Shadow of the Colossus on the PS4, Bluepoint realized they have the full foundation to push even further. Dalton stated that they really want to see what their “design prowess looks like.” To do that, they are using their next project to improve the engine, art, and design.
According to Thrush, the next project is “a bit bigger” than Shadow of Colossus and they plan on pulling out all the stops to really make it work. Though both Dalton and Thrush agree that the studio could go back to making original games again, they maintain that the focus on the new project is to improve on the foundation they built to remake Shadow of Colossus.
They don’t give out any other details, but Thrush states that the studio is very “excited about our next project and we think you will be too when you find out what it is.” Thrush adds “we’re hiring,” so be sure to check out their website if you are interested in working with them.

It is anyone’s guess what this new remake is for Bluepoint. It could be another Ico game, like their very first game by the same name. It will not be The Last Guardian, however, as the game came out too recently. Even if The Last Guardian does need a little polishing.
The rest of the interview is focused on the development process of Shadow of the Colossus, all the way down to how the textures were done and how real-time shadows really work. It is an interesting peek into the industry and speaks to the dedication and hard work Bluepoint had put into their remakes, not just Shadow of the Colossus.
Titanfall, for example, Thrush and Dalton agree was the most challenging remake they have done so far. Apparently, they had to rewrite almost all the systems (like collision and animation) “just to save memory.”
