Updated 5/2/18 11:10 EST: The new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer has been added.
It’s a great time to be a fan of all things western. And now, Rockstar has chimed in to add a cherry atop our wild west sundae. The developer has announced that a new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer is headed our way later this week.
The studio was scant on details. They simply posted a message on their blog confirming that a fresh look at their highly anticipated game would go live in trailer form on Wednesday, May 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Eastern. It’s going to be a long two days…
It doesn’t seem like all that long ago, but the last time we were gifted with a new trailer for the game was back in September. Then, Rockstar was still poised to deliver the game within their spring window.
Wednesday’s trailer will likely be the last we see of the game prior to E3 in June. The infamous expo may provide the first opportunity for fans and press to go hands on with the game ahead of its fall release.
However, Rockstar tends to march to the beat of their own drum. So it’s entirely possible that an E3 appearance won’t even happen. The studio could very well hold additional details for Red Dead Redemption 2 until much closer to the game’s October launch.
Red Dead Redemption 2 serves as a prequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption. Players look to be thrust into the role of the ruthless criminal, Arthur Morgan. Morgan is a member of the Van der Linde gang, and from previous trailers looks to be an enforcer of sorts who collects debts for his boss.
Hopefully Wednesday’s trailer sheds a bit more light on the narrative side of things. Perhaps even teasing whether the story will connect to John Marston’s criminal ventures prior to Red Dead Redemption. Only a couple of more days until we find out for ourselves.
