Codemasters and Deep Silver have announced that their upcoming arcade racer Onrush is getting an open beta. The free trial should give players a proper warm up prior to the title’s June release.
The open beta period will begin on Thursday, May 17th at 9:00 a.m. Eastern, 6:00 a.m. Pacific. The program will run until Monday, May 20th, shutting down at 5:00 a.m. Eastern, 2:00 a.m. Pacific. Anyone that has or will prepurchase Onrush on PlayStation 4 are entitled to hop into the beta early. Access for those folks will begin on Tuesday, May 15th.
Upon launching the open beta, players will be thrust into an interactive tutorial before being directed to the game’s Superstar Practice mode. There, you can play against both AI or online players as you get a feel for the game. The mode also features a robust Photomode that you can toy with and share with friends.

There’s a decent amount of content offered to public through the open beta. Two tracks are available in Big Dune Beach and Crater Lake. Each with a variety of weather conditions and different times of day.
You’ll be able to experience the game’s Overdrive and Countdown modes in the beta. And you can choose from the Blade, Vortex, Interceptor and Titan vehicle classes. The developers also state that you earn them, you will be able to keep “stylish rewards for the final game in the form of Crashtags and Tombstones to drop and display when being wrecked or taking down rivals while in the heat of the action.”
Codemasters says that Onrush “is not about racing to the finish line.” Instead, the game features what the team calls the “all-important Rush bar.” To fill the Rush bar, you’ll be “Racing with style and flair is what counts as you perform incredible takedowns and put everything on the line.”
Originally announced during Paris Games Week in October, Codemasters and Deep Silver are bringing the racer to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 5th. Checkout the trailer above to get a feel for the intense racing action poised to head our way next month.
