In July 2017, Telltale published a summer update video which broke down the studios plans and upcoming releases. Amongst the news delivered was the announcement of The Wolf Among Us Season 2 with a release date of 2018. That’s obviously no longer the case.
Telltale states that the “delay comes as the result of a few fundamental changes here at Telltale since we first announced the game last summer.” Here’s their statement on the game’s updated release window:
More From Nerd Much?:
“Most importantly, we’re committed to exploring new ways to tell our stories. Taking this extra time will allow us not only to focus on quality but also to experiment and iterate in order to craft something truly special.
Ultimately our goal is to deliver an experience deserving of the passion you’ve consistently shown for The Wolf Among Us, and these extra months will give us the time we need to do our best work. We’re extremely enthusiastic about how the game is progressing so far, and we can’t wait to dig even deeper.”
Telltale promises that we’ll have more news on their episodic comic adaptation later this year. Which essentially implies that we won’t be seeing this game on display at E3 in a few weeks. So I suppose it was wise to temper expectations before the big event.
The Wolf Among us is based upon the award winning Fables comic series from DC’s Vertigo imprint. Telltale’s take on the series is a prequel to the comics, taking place twenty years prior to its source material. Episode 5 of Season 1 released in July 2014. It will be somewhere around 5 years later that we’ll finally get our hands on The Wolf Among Us Season 2.
