Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta Dates Announced

Activision has announced today what many Call of Duty fans have been waiting for. The publisher has confirmed when we’ll be getting access to the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta.

Blackout mode is the upcoming battle royale feature that’s being developed within Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. We got our first look at the new mode back in May when Blackout’s first teaser trailer went live. We’ve only seen snippets of gameplay within the new mode since then.

Thanks to their exclusivity deal with Activision, Sony’s PlayStation 4 will be getting access to the Black Ops 4 Blackout beta first. Things begin on PlayStation 4 on September 10th. Activision hasn’t announced when the Black Ops 4 Blackout beta period will run for Xbox One and PC as of yet.

Activision states that “Blackout is a celebration of the Black Ops community, introducing a brand-new Battle Royale style mode steeped in the Black Ops universe.” The publisher touts that “Blackout pits the most players ever in franchise history against each other, in the biggest map in Call of Duty history, all with the signature Black Ops combat players know and love.”

It sounds as though Blackout will feature one playable map which Activision describes as “colossal”. With in it, the developers have pulled iconic locations that you’ll recognize from maps such as Nuketown and Firing Range. You’ll also have access to characters from Black Ops past to use within Blackout.

The feel of the game will be different from your standard multiplayer matches, obviously. When you hop into the Black Ops 4 Blackout beta, you’ll notice that the game features different ammunition types and weapons from the Black Ops series that you’ll scavenge from the map. Within the mode’s colossal acreage you’ll also be able to drive vehicles of the land, sea and air varieties.

With the Black Ops 4 Blackout beta hitting PlayStation 4 on Monday, September 10th, it’s likely that the Xbox One and PC version of the beta will arrive later that week. Once Activision divulges more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
