Battlerite Royale Gameplay Trailer Arrives

We’ve been slowly dripped information on Stunlock Studios’ attempt to take Battlerite into the battle royale genre. And today, we’ve received one of their biggest drops yet – our first Battlerite Royale gameplay trailer is here.

After being announced in May, we’re finally getting a look at in-game footage of the title courtesy of today’s Battlerite Royale gameplay trailer. Stunlock announced just last week that Battlerite Royale was becoming its own entity, completely separate from Battlerite proper.

If you’re curious what the difference is between Battlerite and Battlerite Royale – besides, you know, that fact that one is a battle royale and the other isn’t – here’s Stunlock Studio’s description of the latter:

“In Battlerite Royale, players skydive from the back of a mysterious flying creature to land on Talon Island and begin exploring the lush and colorful surroundings. During fast-paced matches players roam a map 30 times larger than a standard Battlerite arena map in order to find a variety of items and consumables, fight other players to grab their loot, and ultimately be the last one standing on the island.

There will be several Champions to choose from, each with their own unique fighting style. The signature Battlerite combat and input system remain unchanged, though all Champions have been optimized for Battlerite Royale.”

Some fans of the original Battlerite are beginning to feel that progress on their game is being sacrificed due to Battlerite Royale. Stunlock is adamant that isn’t true. 3 new arena maps are coming to Battlerite in September. Although they are ‘inspired” by Battlerite Royale’s map. There’s new adventure items in September too. A Halloween event and the launch of Season 4 in October. A new Champion hits the game in November, and plenty more according to Stunlock’s roadmap.

Battlerite Royale is launching via Steam Early Access next month. And if we can gleam anything from today’s Battlerite Royale gameplay trailer, the new standalone game just looks like it just wants to have fun.
