Spyro Reignited Trilogy Launch Trailer Shows What a Difference 20 Years Makes

Originally slated to release in September, Activision and Toys for Bob announced a couple of months ago that their Spyro Reignited Trilogy was being pushed into November so that the developers could focus on “getting these games right”. Today we get to see the fruits of those labors, as the duo has dropped a Spyro Reignited Trilogy launch trailer showing us how much progress has been made.

The trio of games look fantastic on the current generation of consoles. Throughout the Spyro Reignited Trilogy launch trailer you can see how the games originally fared graphically compared to the new coat of paint they currently sport. The differences are quite dramatic, which is obvious due to the first game in the series, Spyro the Dragon, being an original PlayStation title from just over 20 years ago.

The Spyro Reignited Trilogy launch trailer reintroduces numerous locations, enemies and allies that Spyro meets throughout his trio of adventures. All of the game’s voice work has been completely redone too, including the titular character getting redubbed by industry legend Tom Kenny.

If you’re skeptical at all about Toys for Bob’s ability to bring Spyro into a new era, their track record is proven. The team handled development on 2017’s Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, a remake of the original three Crash Bandicoot games. The package earned a average of 76 on Metacritic.

The studio also has worked with the Spyro franchise previously. The team was one of the main studios that worked on the Skylanders series for Activision. The first game in franchise, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, was a spin-off from the Spyro series.

Only three weeks separate us from Spyro’s reintroduction to the gaming world. We’ll see if Activision and Toys for Bob go two for two on these modernized remakes when the Spyro Reignited Trilogy lands on November 13th.
