The Soulcalibur series sure loves utilizing guest appearances. Introducing special third-party characters into Bandai Namco’s fighting series has been a staple of the various games since Link, Heihachi and Spawn hopped in the fray with Soulcalibur 2. The trend will expand with the newest entry in the series, as the publisher has announced that the upcoming Soulcalibur 6 DLC will feature none other than NieR: Automata’s 2B.
In addition to the reveal trailer above, Bandai Namco also issued the following breakdown of Soulcalibur 6’s DLC character, 2B:
More From Nerd Much?:
“2B wields two swords, Virtuous Contract and Virtuous Treaty. Both have been carefully tuned for maximum efficiency in the hands of a YoRHa android. Her fighting technique is specially designed for combat against machine lifeforms, employing acrobatic leaps and mid-air slashes, lightning-fast evasions and perfectly coordinated strikes.”
In addition to the character itself, the first Soul Calibur 6 DLC drop will also introduce a stage and background music based upon Square Enix’s NieR: Automata. There will also be new costumes, weapons, parts and stickers included in the DLC.
The Soulcalibur 6 DLC Season Pass as a whole includes the bonus character, Tira. It will also introduce 2 new characters in addition to 2B. There will be 2 armors packs incorporated down the line too. Bandai Namco hasn’t announced exactly when NieR: Automata’s 2B will debut, but it’s likely to be sometime soon. The Season Pass itself is available now for $29.99.
The game itself is said to be a breath of fresh air for the Soulcalibur series. Reviews from the majority of outlets typically range in the 8s and 9s. The fighter sports a Metacritic average currently sitting at 84%. If you’re new to the franchise, Soulcalibur 6 is actually a great place to jump in. The game’s story is a retelling of the events that took place within the first entry of the series.
