Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct Coming Thursday

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate arrives in just 38 days (but who’s counting?). So as the game gets closer, and rivals like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Spider-Man subside, it’s time for Nintendo to steal our attention once again. Thus, it’s time for the company’s final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct.

Nintendo tweeted earlier today that series director Masahiro Sakurai would be hosting the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct this coming Thursday, November 1st. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct will be roughly 40 minutes in length, and focus upon all new information. Following the Direct, a Nintendo Treehouse: Live presentation will offer a more in-depth look at the game.

We wrote a piece last week when Nintendo released a fresh trailer for the game. Nintendo decided to release that trailer right when the purported roster leaks were reaching peak frenzy. Don’t continue reading if you don’t want to be spoiled on potential characters, but Thursday should be the day we find out if those leaks were indeed authentic.

Sakurai has previously stated that all of the characters making the game’s roster would be announced prior to release. And with Thursday being the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct, the roster should be complete at its conclusion. Thus we’ll officially know whether the rumors of Shadow (Sonic the Hedgehog), Banjo Kazooie, Ken (Street Fighter), Isaac (Golden Sun), Mach Rider, Geno (Super Mario RPG) and The Chorus Kids (Rhythm Heaven) are legitimate. This, of course, excludes the possibility of any DLC characters later down the line.

We also don’t know anything about the game’s mysterious mode that was teased during the last Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct. Many assume that’s going to be the title’s primary solo mode, but we won’t know for sure until Thursday when Sakurai pulls the curtain back.

We don’t have long to wait now, folks. The flood gates open Thursday, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate comes rushing to Nintendo Switch on December 7th.
