Overwatch Hero Ashe Announced
BlizzCon 2018 kicked off today. And during the opening ceremony, Blizzard confirmed who the 29th character coming to their hero shooter would be. She’s a heavy hitter named Ashe, and she’s bringing her sidekick B.O.B. along to help dominate the Overwatch playing field.
Ashe, full name Elizabeth Caledonia Ashe, is a considered a DPS character due to the amount of damage she’s capable of doling out. Blizzard’s Overwatch website further explained some of Ashe’s abilities that we see in her debut trailer above. Here is a full breakdown of what the new hero is capable of:
The Viper: Ashe’s semi-automatic rifle fires quick shots, or she can use her aim-down sights for a more damaging, precise shot.
Dynamite: Ashe throws an explosive that detonates after a short delay or immediately when shot. The explosion from Dynamite also lights enemies on fire, dealing damage over time.
More From Nerd Much?:
Coach Gun: Ashe blasts enemies in front of her, knocking them away and propelling herself backward for added mobility.
B.O.B.: Ashe summons her trusted omnic sidekick, B.O.B., who charges forward and knocks enemies into the air, then lays down suppressing fire with his arm cannons.
Blizzard also released a new animated short entitled “Reunion”, with said reunion revolving around another Overwatch hero in McCree. Ashe is the leader of McCree’s former Deadlock gang, so the two have some history and a bit of a rivalry within the lore of the game. Checkout the eight minute short below to see how their relationship unfolds set against a thrilling train robbery
Blizzard didn’t confirm when Ashe would be making her debut within Overwatch, but they did state that the character will be playable on the show floor so fans can get a preview of her skill set. Once the show concludes after the weekend, Ashe should make her PC debut shortly thereafter.
