Even though it was announced back in August 2014, it feels like we know very little about Overkill’s The Walking Dead game. But today marks a huge milestone for the title, as it officially launches on PC via Steam. And to celebrate, we have Overkill’s The Walking Dead launch trailer and additional details on this corner of Robert Kirkman’s zombie universe.
If you haven’t been following, Overkill’s The Walking Dead is a four player first-person co-op shooter. Within it, “players must band together on a variety of missions to find survivors, secure supplies and survive. Use stealth to evade enemies tactically, or dismember walkers limb from limb with brute force and firepower.”
More From Nerd Much?:
Overkill’s The Walking Dead launch trailer introduces us to the game’s four playable characters in Heather, Aidan, Grant and a Maya. The developers state that each of the four have their own “special abilities, skill trees, squad roles, play styles and background stories.” The group is branded the Anderson Camp, and the game has you “team up with other survivors to confront the challenges and horrors of post-apocalyptic Washington, D.C.”
Today’s announcement of the game’s launch comes with news that at $59.99, the PC version comes with “all episodes from the game’s first two seasons of content.” Only the first season is available at launch though. In it you’ll explore sections of Washington, D.C. and come across “unique characters and weapons to encounter, and action-packed battles to overcome.”
Overkill states that the second season will arrive within the title’s first big update later this month. They’re offering a Deluxe Edition of the game for $79.99 too. It comes with the first two seasons, the Night Raid Collection cosmetic DLC, a digital artbook, and a digital soundtrack.
Reviews haven’t gone line yet so there’s no way to vouch for the game. We’ll have to wait and see whether Overkill was able to bring the whole package together. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners will have to wait a bit to play. Their versions launch next year on February 6th.
