The most popular game in the world continues to evolve. Fortnite Season 8 has gone live, radically changing much of the game you love in unique and fun ways.
The biggest, most obvious change to Fortnite Season 8 is the introduction of a new volcano to the island’s map. The volcano’s summit is in the northeast, just south of Risky Reels. It’s caused changes around the landscape with its emergence, creating Sunny Steps to its east and Lazy Lagoon to its west. The user generated area known as The Block has been moved west towards Junk Junction.
With the volcano brings the obvious inclusion of lava into the game. Stepping into it will deal 1 damage per touch and causes players to bounce. There are volcanic vents around the map now too. These will thrust players into the air allowing them to glide toward destinations quicker.
A new game changing item as been added to the battle royale as well. Known as the Pirate Cannon, players will push the weapon around before settling it into position. From there, take aim and fire. Oh, but it’s not just cannon balls that you’ll be firing. You or your teammates can also jump within the barrel and launch yourself far into the distance. And judging from the footage we’ve seen, it looks to be a beast at taking down structures.
Those that thought vehicles were getting a bit heavy handed within the game will be happy to known that Fortnite Season 8 pulls back on them dramatically. The X-4 Stormwing, Shopping Cart and All Terrain Kart have been vaulted. As have the Sneaky Snowman and Chiller Grenade.
And, as with every new season, there’s a fresh Fortnite Season 8 Battle Pass available to purchase for 950 V-Bucks. You can checkout Epic Games’ trailer below to see what booty awaits:
