The Sinking City Release Date Avoids the Crowd, Moves to June

Frogwares’ upcoming H.P. Lovecraft inspired mystery horror game is getting pushed. The team announced a new The Sinking City release date, allowing the developers additional time for polish while avoided a crowded video game calendar.

The Sinking City release date was originally set for March 21st. But all around the game’s release are several other high profile options. The Division 2 drops on March 15th. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice arrives March 22nd. And The Walking Dead: The Final Season’s final episode, Final Fantasy 7 and MLB The Show 19 all release the week after.

Community Manager for Frogwares, Sergey Oganesyan, hopped on YouTube to deliver the message of a new The Sinking City release date directly to fans. Oganesyan states that the team “decided that we want to release our game in a less crowded time frame. With so many great games coming out around the same time, I’m sure this will also give you some breathing space for your playtime. So with all of that in mind, we have moved our release date to the 27th of June, 2019. We hope that this new date will suit you all well.”

Frogwares’ Community Manager goes on to confirm that “this additional time will allow us to optimize The Sinking City, making it a little bit better.”

Within The Sinking City, players take on the role of a private investigator in Charles W. Reed. Reed is described as being “tortured by his past and otherworldly visions”, and fins himself in Oakmont, Massachusetts in an effort to rid himself of the insanity that appears to be overcoming him.

Oakmont doesn’t seem like the past place to rid Reed of his woes though. Frogwares says “Once a trade harbor, known for its lucrative smuggling business, Oakmont now lives in secluded isolation from the rest of the world, under a flood of supernatural origins.” Regardless, players will assume the role of Reed as they track down various clues within the town, eventually unearthing “a cosmic horror threatening the world itself.”
