Halo: Master Chief Collection PC Version is Official

After being rumored for quite a while, PC gamers can finally rejoice. During Microsoft’s Inside Xbox March episode, the company confirmed that the Halo: Master Chief Collection PC version was indeed real – and potentially spectacular.

Microsoft confirmed that the Halo: Master Chief Collection PC version isn’t a mere port of the Xbox One collection. Instead, it’s “built specifically for the PC audience”. That PC audience will have to wait a bit before getting the whole package though.

The play is for 343 Industries to roll out the individual games within the Master Chief Collection one by one. According to Brian Jarrard, Community Director at 343, that will “give the team time to really focus and make sure we get it right.”

Jarrard also confirmed that the team will be accruing feedback from the PC player base along the way, but it won’t be just from fans playing through the Microsoft Store. As 343 confirmed that the Halo: Master Chief Collection PC edition will also be purchasable through Steam for players that prefer to play PC titles that way.

Microsoft also announced that Halo: Reach would soon be added to the Halo: Master Chief Collection on both Xbox One and PC. A timeframe wasn’t given, only that we’ll be getting more details in the future.

A release date for the first game in the Halo: Master Chief Collection PC edition wasn’t announced either during the Inside Xbox news drop. But the team did tease that they’ll be sharing more information this weekend during the Halo Championship Series Invitational at SXSW.

The Inside Xbox March event was a success for Microsoft. During the show, Minecraft was confirmed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass. A slick looking Phantom White Special Edition wireless controller was revealed. We got an update on content coming to State of Decay 2, a Microsoft teased a bit more about their big Project xCloud streaming service.
