New Avengers Endgame Trailer Shows Us Nothing, Still Amazes
To satisfy the thousands of folks on the internet clamoring for it, Marvel released their new Avengers: Endgame trailer this morning. The footage is loaded with nostalgia, teases the upcoming film, and yet still divulges pretty much nothing about the finale’s plot.
The new Avengers: Endgame trailer takes its time covering the beats that got us here. It opens up with footage from Iron Man, with Tony Stark relaying a heartfelt message to Pepper Pots.
We then move on to footage from Captain America. A non-super Steve Rodgers is seen, but it’s the Peggy Carter voiceover that gets our attention. “The world has changed, and none of us can go back” she says. “All we can do is our best. And sometimes the best we can do is to start over.”
Cut to the Barton farm, where Hawkeye is teaching his daughter how to shoot a bow. She nails a bullseye and dad couldn’t be more proud. The new Avengers: Endgame trailer then takes us to the current time, where we previously saw a clearly despondent Hawkeye brutally taking down villains. Now we see Natasha (Black Widow) there to bring Clint back home to the team. They join hands, signaling he’s ready.
We move to Asgard, we quick footage from the Thor movies interspersed. “I saw all these people die” he utters, as we watch various members of the Avengers turn to dust. We then hear Cap’s iconic line from the last trailer next. “I keep telling everyone they should move on” he says to Black Widow. “Some do, but not us.”
Clips come quick now, showcasing all of our still standing Avengers. Black Widow takes the mic. “Even if there’s a small chance, we owe this, to everyone that’s not in this room. To try.” Steve Rodgers then responds, offering the motto of the new Avengers trailer, “We will. Whatever it takes. Whatever it takes.” With Black Widow agreeing, and then Tony Stark shortly after, “Whatever it takes.”
Other things of note include some spiffy new costumes for our remaining Avengers. And the confirmation of Captain Marvel in the movie for the folks that haven’t seen Captain Marvel. She stands eye to eye with Thor, who puts his arm out to call Stormbreaker. The weapon flys into the scene, right by Carol’s head – and she barely even notices.
“I like this one,” he says to Natasha. We all do Thor, we all do.
