If you liked what you saw within the Warlander reveal trailer back in March but don’t have a PC, the team at Clock Drive Games has news for you. The studio announced today that they will be bringing their upcoming third-person action-RPG to both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well later this year.
Warlander looks pretty damn intriguing. Within the game, you play as “a resurrected hero on a warpath of vengeance”. It’s a single-player adventure that sports RPG elements throughout a linear story.
Clock Drive Games promises a trio of “expansive and diverse” skill trees that will boast your character’s abilities along the way. But the most exciting aspect of Warlander has to be the title’s sword and slashing mechanics. In combat, it looks like your character is straight-up dismembering enemies ruthlessly with a lightsaber-like sword. Which makes sense considering the developers describe the game as “Jedi Knight 2 meets Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, but re-envisioned for the modern sword fighting aficionados!”
The studio’s Creative Director, Goran Rajsic, also mentioned another notable title the team took aspects from, saying “The games we drew inspiration from such as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, played beautifully on console so we’re aiming to bring that same rich and premium experience to the players. With deep RPG mechanics and incredibly smooth combat mechanics, Warlander will be a title with tons of replay value for our fans.”
As dark fantasy, Clock Drive Games classifies the project’s setting as “grim and menacing”. Within it, you’ll “think like a Jedi, fight as Conan, and carve your path of vengeance into death or glory!”
A specific release date for Warlander wasn’t given, but the team has noted that they’re in the final stages of development. The intriguing project is slated to arrive for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year.
