Paradox Interactive is taking us deeper into the lore of their Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines sequel today. The team has released a Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Clan trailer which gives us an introduction to the Ventrue clan.
The Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 clan trailer is quick animated take on the “elite” of this vampire world. Throughout the trailer, we see a well dressed woman staring out from her high-rise window, explaining the history of her like.
While lighting a cigarette, she explains, “The misconception among the heard is that power has been stolen from them. But when only you carry in your blood centuries of honor and authority, your power over the crowd with rain down like a blessing.”
Meanwhile the camera pulls right within the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 clan trailer revealing another well dressed individual, this time a man, holding another man to the ground with one hand while a container is in his other.
The woman continues her spiel while nodding to the man and he douses his captive with what we presume to be gasoline. “A gift,” she continues. “I don’t expect gratitude – but I do demand loyalty” she states while flicking her lit flame at their prisoner, who is then engulfed off screen.
This is the Ventrue. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Paradox explains that “As more and more billion-dollar corporations shape the local and global landscape, enterprising Ventrue have entrenched themselves in the businesses of the 21st century, paving the way for a prosperous future for their clan… and making enemies of the residents who preferred the way things used to be.”
The clan is now comprised of “well-placed bankers and influential business leaders.” Dubbed “The Clan of Kings”, the group is self described as “guardians of the vampire society who place lineage and fidelity above all else.”
Within the game itself, the Ventrue will have unique abilities. These include the ability to put NPCs into a trance, takes control of others, can block field of view attacks and heal themselves, and can create a stone barrier upon their skin.
The breakdown of the Ventrue follows prior reveals for the Tremere, as well as the Toreador. Expect similar lore videos for the remaining clans (Brujah, Malkavians, Gangrel, Nosferatu and Sabbat) in the weeks to come.
