It looks as though we aren’t going to have to wait for Nintendo’s E3 Direct to get the scoop on the Switch’s upcoming Pokémon titles. The company revealed that they’ve schedule a Pokémon Sword and Shield Direct for next week, promising “roughly 15 minutes of new information on Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield for Nintendo Switch in a livestreamed Pokémon Direct presentation.”
Other than the Pokémon Sword and Shield Direct date, June 5th, we’ve got nothing else but “new information” to tease us. We first saw Nintendo and The Pokémon Company blow the game out back in February. There, the title’s starters were revealed in Scorbunny, Sobble, and Grookey. And we saw the game’s graphical style and setting in the Great Britain inspired Galar region. Expect a much deeper dive into the new games next week.
The Pokémon Sword and Shield Direct isn’t the only Pokémon related news we’re getting though. The Pokémon Company announced that they’ll be holding their Pokémon 2019 Press Conference later this evening in Japan.
The company held a press conference right around this time last year as well. There, we learned a few details on Sword and Shield in addition to the reveal of Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee. The mobile title Pokémon Quest was also announced.
We know of a new mobile title in Pokémon Rumble Rush that recently launched in Australia. We’ll likely get details on the global roll out for that. There’s also a shot that we get some form of confirmation regarding a Detective Pikachu sequel too with the film adaptation doing so well at the box office.
We’ll know later tonight what The Pokémon Company is up to with its array of Pokémon projects. But for the mainline series we’ll have a bit longer to wait. The Sword and Shield Direct is set for Wednesday, June 5th at 9:00 a.m. Eastern, 6:00 a.m. Pacific. Make sure to catch it all.
