A new Nintendo handheld patent has been filed! With the Nintendo NX releasing in March 2017, could this be a hint of what’s to come?
The patents for the new Nintendo handheld was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The exact description is of a “handheld information processing apparatus.” It shows a device with a single screen touch screen. As expected, it also has built in speakers. Making a change for handhelds, there is also a vibration system built into the device.
Many of the images of this new Nintendo handheld lack any sort of real buttons. This continues the trend of many recent patents by Nintendo this past year. Instead, the console looks to have various button overlays. With the vibration, this could mean haptic feedback to give us the “real button” sensation.
Additionally, there is another design that shows a handheld with the traditional button layout we are used to.
With the console set to release in March 2017, there is a lot of speculation as to what the Nintendo NX will be. Many rumors have been suggesting that the NX is a console/handheld hybrid. Additionally, there have been rumors suggesting the return of cartridge-based games.
