Evolve goes free-to-play starting today. The new business model comes with a number of changes that aim to draw in more players than before.
The relaunched games is called Evolve: Stage 2. This game will completely replace the existing one. As Evolve goes free-to-play, previous owners will retain access to all the content they had previously purchased. Additionally, they will receive later rewards for their loyalty.
If you’re new to Evolve, you will have access to a weekly revolving choice of Hunters and Monsters. There will also be a number of ways to unlock specific characters for free by earning the new in-game currency, Silver Keys. Some of these ways include daily challenges, ranking up your profile, completing tutorials, or logging in on consecutive days.
While real money options will be offered in the future, Turtle Rock has created fair sounding ways to earn Silver Keys. They are earned through ways that encourage you to keep playing.
While Evolve goes free-to-play, a few other changes are going to occur. The gameplay and balancing have been reworked which could change things a lot. For instance, all Hunters now have the ability to trap the monster in a dome. The Trapper also now has the ability to use “World Scan” to give the entire team an idea of where the monster is.
Evolve: Stage 2 looks like it has learned a lot since its first go-around. With its free-to-play model, you can check it out for yourselves!
