Get ready to sharpen your sharpshooting skills, as Blizzard has just unveiled Overwatch‘s rumored sniper healer character, which we now know to be Ana, Pharah’s mom, a battle-scarred veteran who uses a healing sniper rifle and other goodies to assist her teammates from afar.
Ana is just the first of undoubtedly many new Overwatch heroes coming to the game post-launch.
Her primary weapon is called the Biotic Rifle, and it fires long-range darts that heal her allies and do damage to her enemies. She also has a Biotic Grenade, which heals teammates and damages enemies caught in its area of effect. The grenade will also prevent enemies from being healed briefly, while also boosting incoming heals for allies.
Ana will also come equipped with a Sleep Dart that is capable of rendering enemies unconscious for a brief period. Ana’s ultimate ability is called Nano Boost, and it will fire her dart at an ally, granting them faster movement, increased damage and improved resistance to incoming attacks.
What’s more, Blizzard has delved a little into Ana’s backstory in a new video, which you can watch below. In the video, it appears as though Widowmaker is the one responsible for Ana’s loss of her right eye.
Of course, the best news of all is that Ana, like all of the planned added content coming to Overwatch post-launch, will be entirely free for those who own the game.
