Mass Effect Andromeda looks to focus on a family story this time around. While the journey will be vast, the anchor points will hit close to home.
Last night during a demo of Andromeda with Playstation Access, new information was revealed by BioWare creative director Mac Walters. While narrating over gameplay, Walters explained that, “We’re seeing our male character, at E3 we got to see our female character. A little surprise here: These two are actually brother and sister.”
When you create your character, you decide which sibling you control. The other sibling is placed farther into the story. “They both exist in the game world at the same time,” says Walters. “If you’re playing as the female Ryder, your brother is out there somewhere in the universe.”
Interestingly enough, the family ties don’t stop there. Remember the original trailer for Mass Effect Andromeda? “The character we saw two E3s ago, the N7, is actually your father,” says Walters. “So we have got the full Ryder family revealed. We’ll do names and things in the future.”
Luckily, we won’t have long to wait for more details. According to the official Mass Effect twitter page, “doors to the next Mass Effect universe” will be opened on November 7 (N7 day). For more information on Mass Effect Andromeda, check out the gameplay demo below.
