Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite News, Trailers, Release Date, & More

**Update 5/31/17: The probable launch roster has leaked.

Unless you live under a rock, you may have heard the rumor earlier this week that Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is in development. Now, initially, we ignored that rumor because it stemmed from a leaked image that was clearly a shoddy Photoshop job. Then, Polygon actually stepped in and corroborated that rumor, saying that they have multiple sources telling them that a Marvel vs. Capcom 4 release is happening, and it’s coming in September 2017.marvel vs capcom infinite

At PSX, Capcom confirmed the game’s existence, and we now know that it’s called Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and we can all breathe a sigh of relief that MvC4 is actually happening. However, there’s not much that we know about it just yet, so we’ve decided to bring together EVERYTHING we can find about the upcoming fighting game, including news, facts, release date, characters, trailers, and of course, those sweet, juicy rumors.

Here’s everything we currently know about Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite:

Game Overview

So, it turns out that Marvel vs Capcom 4 is actually Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, and we are all pretty excited about it. It is confirmed for PS4, and it is set to release at some point in 2017. We are awaiting some gameplay a bit later today, but the first MvCI trailer gave us some serious hints about what to expect. First, of course, it will have Mega Man, Iron Man, Ryu, Thanos, and Captain Marvel. Secondly, it looks like it will, indeed, be 2v2 instead of 3v3 — likely with an assist character. (2v2 has been confirmed).

We know that the game is being built on the Unreal Engine 4, so we can expect top-notch graphics.

We also learned that the game aims to be approachable yet complex, so that there’s a low barrier to entry but those who want to dive all the way in can master its systems.

We will know more soon.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Trailers

Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite will simultaneously release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in late 2017. It’s also rumored to come to the Nintendo Switch, but we’ll burn that bridge when we get confirmation.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will include Infinity Stones, taken from the Marvel side of things. These unique stones can greatly influence the outcome of a match, with each Infinity Stone providing a unique advantage respresenting a different aspect of the universe: power, time, space, reality, soul, and mind. We’re expecting more details about Infinity Stones soon.

Multiplayer Features

Capcom says that the game will have various robust online modes and content that will include not only ranked and casual matches, but also global leaderboards, online lobbies and even a spectator mode. More multiplayer modes will be detailed soon.

Single Player Content

Thankfully, Capcom is doing something unimaginable yet exciting this time around by giving players a Cinematic story for Marvel vs. Capcom. We have absolutely no idea where this story is going to go, but it’s nonetheless exciting. Heroes and villains will battle in a “timeless struggle” set in both the Marvel and Capcom universes. The two teams will come together to defeat a new villain. So, in short, expect some weirdness with the game’s story, but hopefully Capcom doesn’t take it too seriously.

Capcom recently confirmed that the brand new story mode will focus on heroes and villains battling together to fight off Ultron Sigma, a new villainous threat.

There will also be a single player Arcade, Training and Mission mode, providing solo players with a variety of gameplay possibilities.

Release Date

According to Capcom, the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite release date is set for September 9, 2017. Here’s to hoping it releases as a full game experience, unlike that other Capcom fighting game.

The Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite pre-order link is now live on Amazon, and while we recommend you wait until we have more information before you do so, we know there are those who are already ready to preorder the game.

This morning, Capcom finally announced the official Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite release date. We now know that the highly anticipated fighting game will release in North America on September 19, 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.Marvel vs capcom infinite

Capcom also announced that new characters will join the battle, including Ultron, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Chun-Li, Strider Hiryu, and Chris Redfield.

Of course, each of these confirmed characters will feature unique abilities and iconic special moves, and they’ll join Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Captain America, Ryu, Mega Man X, and Morrigan for the game’s roster.

Interestingly enough, this could be confirmation that there won’t be any X-Men in the game. Hmm…

What’s more, Capcom is taking a page out of the Injustice book, as for the first time in franchise history, the game will include a cinematic story mode that will see heroes and villains battle together to save their world from Ultron Sigma, their newest threat.

Capcom notes that more information regarding characters, stages, game features and the new story mode will be revealed in the coming months.

-X-Men will not be included, as the game will feature Marvel movie characters (which, of course, excludes X-Men).

-It’s rumored that Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will come to the Nintendo Switch, but we don’t have any confirmation of that just yet.
