PlayStation Plus is one of those gifts that keeps on giving. For less than the price of one game each year, Sony gives you six games to play each month (two for each system). Fresh off the heels of the holidays, we finally got a list of the upcoming free games for January 2016.
PS4 owners looking for something to play should be happy to know that they will be getting two very different games. First off, there is Grim Fandango: Remastered. This game is for those who love classic adventure games and the point-and-click style that they often shared. This game’s release was a much-needed surprise since they only were to get the game beforehand was through less than legal means. When you to unwind with some friends, try your hand at Hardware: Rivals. If you loved the chaotic nature of Rocket League, this games may scratch a similar itch for you. It is an online multiplayer, vehicle combat game. There is nothing more zen than crashing a tank into your best friend’s attack jeep again and again.
PlayStation Vita users should be happy to see three more games for them to play this month. Besides Grim Fandango Remastered, Vita owners will get to download Nihilumbra, a stylized puzzle-platformer. While it’s not the most difficult game, it does offer an interesting story that shouldn’t be missed. For fans of turn-based strategy games, you can try your hand at Legends of War: Patton. This is a licensed game from the History Channel. While that usually doesn’t come with glowing recommendations, you can’t beat the price of free.
Finally, for anyone who still has their PS3 plugged in, you will be happy to know that you have two games as well. Sadly, the first game is the poorly reviewed Medal of Honor: Warfighter. We suggest you stay away from this one unless you really want another war shooter to play. Luckily, all this is made better with Dragon Age: Origins. This classic RPG from Bioware is still just as good as it was when it first released. Go check this one out if you enjoyed playing the more recent Dragon Age: Inquisition.
