CES 2016: Oculus Rift Price Set, Preorder Available

CES 2016 Oculus Rift Price Set, Preorder AvailableAfter such a long wait, you are finally able to preorder the retail version of the Oculus Rift. Finally, the world of virtual reality is yours to explore.

To preorder the headset, you can head over to the Oculus shop. The VR headset is limited to one per costumer for a price of $599.

If you’re wondering when you can expect your headset, they will be released in waves. While the first wave is set for March, they have been selling out fast. At the time of writing this, the website says the “expected ship date” is May 2016.

With the headset, you also receive a sensor, Oculus Remote, cables, and an Xbox One controller. The package will also include two games for you to play, EVE: Valkyrie and Lucky’s Tale.

Keep in mind that the Oculus Rift cannot operate without a computer. If your computer is not powerful enough, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey Tweeted that “Rift+PC bundles are starting at $1499. Might be able to build on your own cheaper, but good option for normal people.”

Also, if you pledged enough money to the original Kickstarter campaign, you should expect a retail version of the Oculus Rift for free.

We here are excited for the possibilities that VR can provide. At $599, the price is a bit higher than we were hoping for. It will be interesting to see how the competition compares later this year.

For more information from CES 2016, keep checking back through the weekend.
