The very first Blade Runner 2049 trailer unexpectedly just hit the web, and we’re just as pleasantly surprised as everyone else.
We had already known about the Blade Runner sequel being in development, but we didn’t think ti was this far along so that we would actually receive the first trailer already. In fact, the movie had been in development for quite some time — since 1999 — but it was shelved after there was some confusion over the rights of the book the sequel would have been based on. It was then re-written as a prequel, and then it was cancelled yet again. We didn’t receive confirmation of this new Blade Runner sequel’s development until February 2015 when it was confirmed that Arrival director Denis Villeneueve would helm the project.
Blade Runner 2049 will star Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Dave Bautista, and Robin Wright. The highly anticipated sci-fi film is set to release on October 6, 2017. It’s directed by Denis Villeneuve, and it’s co-produced by Ridley Scott.
The first Blade Runner 2049 trailer doesn’t give us much to go on, but it’s undeniably well-done, creating plenty of intrigue and mystery surrounding the upcoming movie.
